CII emissions tracking that helped keep enterprise clients

Two Spring Boot services that track vessels' Carbon Intensity Indicator, the IMO rating ship operators are measured on every year.

Result
Helped retain key enterprise clients; est. 10–15% lower fleet CO₂
Context
Maritime-AI vessel-monitoring platform, 1,000+ vessels
Role

Situation

Since 2023, the IMO rates ships from A to E on their Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) every year. A poor rating means corrective action plans and commercial pressure.

Task

Give ship operators a view of where each vessel stands during the year, not after it ends, using the vessel and voyage data the platform already collects.

Action

I built two Spring Boot microservices that deliver CII tracking on the platform.

Result

  • Helped retain key enterprise clients.
  • Contributed to an estimated 10–15% reduction in fleet CO₂ emissions.
